Mobility Batteries “DID YOU KNOW” Information Page

1) All NEW Mobility Batteries need several drain / charges to start to reach maximum performance (so dont be disappointed on the distance achieved first time out… CYCLE FULLY A FEW TIMES

2) All Mobility batteries have a limited number of cycles in them, on average lower spec batteries 200-300 cycles and high spec 300-400 cycles. On average customers get approx 3 years from batteries before replacing (but more or less may occur depending on charging procedures.)

3) Batteries lose distance in colder weather… Study’s show that at 0 degree the batteries will lose approx 40% performance, bare this in mind in the winter. 3-5 degrees may lose say 15% (approx) est’. etc etc

4) Most l.e.d gauges on the scooter are only a “guide” of the battery charge level as they may only measure the voltage NOT the current Amps status….

5) Batteries prefer to be stored full – Best to charge after each journey .

6) Batteries will need a FULL cycle (drain down) occasionally, say once a month – Whilst the batteries like to be kept full, if you only go on short journeys and then recharge every time the “lower” cells in the batteries will become inactive, so to drain (in one hit) and recharge overnight once a month keeps the lower cells “fresh” (tip to drain, put a block of wood under the rear castor wheels so a rear wheel is off the floor and put an elastic band on the trigger and let the wheel spin until drained down)

7) Batteries will fail quickly if left flat …..

8) Always leave the charger ON until you get a green light on the charger (This is the true indication that the batteries are full, NOT by the gauge on the scooter

9) There are different quality batteries out there – With an increasing influx of cheap batteries on the internet (generally from the far east) we are seeing many many batteries fail and not reaching the advertised amps per hour. Mansfield Mobility Centre offer 3 “grades” of batteries at 3 different price points.

10) If you have a scooter serviced Mansfield Mobility Centre we offer an “inclusive” battery test, giving the exact % of how youre batteries are performing (ask for details on 01623 627565.)

11) Please take into consideration ALL THE ABOVE if any concerns about the performance of youre batteries…. If you dont think any of the above is the cause then we will gladly test youre batteries (charges apply)
